Startup Turns to Franchising to Handle Demand for Service

In 2005 Patricia Beckman launched Cybertary, which provides administrative support and specialized services such as graphic design or accounting to entrepreneurs, executives, and small businesses by matching them with independent contractors who work from home.

CybertaryOne month after launching the business, thanks to successful networking and PR, she was overwhelmed by demand for her services. Accounting and finance organizations who couldn't afford to hire staff started calling, as did people unable to find full-time work or who wanted a flexible work-from-home situation. Beckman's one-person organization couldn't keep up, so she turned to franchising.

After a few years of hard work, patience, and persistence, Cybertary franchise sales started to take off. The company now has 22 franchisees and an investor to help the firm grow even more.
