Use your individual strengths and talents to succeed, says Tony Rutigliano, co-author of Strengths Based Selling. Even people who have talents not associated with typical sales traits can be successful salespeople.
"So many pieces of advice that you get as salesperson is about the way to sell or a way to sell, but what we want to strongly encourage is that you discover your way to sell and stick with that," he says. "You have unique talents, you have unique abilities, you have unique experiences, and if you're able to put those to work, it's a formula that can work only for you. No one else's formula will work as well for you."
