Great article and a concept I've always believed in! At a recent company-wide staff meeting, our President asked the entire company (sales staff, administrative and support staff, management, etc.), "Who, here, is in sales?" Of course, the response he intended to receive was a raised hand from everyone. He came close. One person missed the boat, but was made pretty clear on it in very short time. When you're in a service-based business that relies on client acquisition and sales for its bread and butter, everyone in the organization has to be in sales and marketing. Everyone is an ambassador of the company. Everyone relies on everyone else in order to get a paycheck. It's a healthy co-dependency to which we all bring different perspectives, tactics, skills, and ideas. When it breaks down, nobody wins. And, at the risk of sounding cliche, it takes a village. . .(to build and maintain a relationship). |
