My Thoughts

Jonathan, Loved your piece. I'd add 2 more to your list: 1. "I'm thinking about...what would it cost." I don't believe in wasting time with "market researchers." 2. "Show me the exact case study of a time you solved this specific problem." First of all, if I had one, it would be proprietary. Second, since everyone thinks his business/problem is unique, is it possible that that SPECIFIC problem has already been solved (by you). Both indicators of "time to move on." Thanks for summing it up so succinctly.

My Thoughts

Thanks to Mr. Kranz for keeping this issue in front of professionals. So often we believe we can perform Pygmalion-like wonders with the PITA client. I have heard before, as a junior staffer, 'Make a client out of 'em !' The sad thing is, we are worth it to all of them, but not all of them are worth it to us. Living with that thought can add years of productivity for us to the clients who appreciate the work.
