| My Thoughts | I disagree. I read my presentations and I always get applause and a raft of emails. What keeps people fom snoring is the quality of the delivery. Anything can be made boring or exciting. To keep peoples' eyes riveted on me I use a simple technique: no handouts and no Powerpoints. I am the only attraction available to them and deliver my presentation with feeling , I engineer pauses, etc. Of course, I am extremely familiar with my speech and can make it flow, slow down or accelerate as need be without having to worry about what I am supposed to say next. |

| My Thoughts | I have been telling our scientists and engineers for years they are packing too much text into their PowerPoint slides. They just don't seem to understand that slides are just an outline, not a copy of the speech. For some reason, the message is always more powerful coming from outside our organization. Thank you, Laurie Brown, for your article. |
