Article Title: Are You Client Focused, Or A Client Vulture?
Author of Article: Charles H. Green
My Thoughts: This article was excellent for the professional service firm's marketing and business development departments. Now get one in a publication for CEOs and CFOs. The demand for tangible measurable financial results seldom originates in the marketing department. The real trust issue originates with executive management and their belief that the client needs their firm to be trustworthy advisors not just service providers. This type of relationship while coveted is not measurable within an acceptable timeframe for most firm CFOs. Too bad for the firm and the client.

My Thoughts: While Mr. Green's thoughts and recommendations are correct, they are not a new concept. Being truly client focused USED TO BE COMMON PRACTICE and a key element for success back in the '50's and 60's. When I first began my career in sales and marketing, my training was how to be client focused. Unfortunately over the course of time and as more companies wanted to reinvent the wheel, they gave in to concepts and theories that briefly added to the bottom line but over the longer course opened the door of opportunity to competitors. In my current position, I thrive on the attitudes, strategies of companies who relegate their reps to "pill pushers". So long as this attitude remains the common way of conducting business, my company will continue to grow.
