OVERVIEW
RainToday.com is the leading online publication focused on providing insight and advice around marketing and sales for professional services businesses. We are seeking an entrepreneurial professional with experience in marketing and/or sales to manage all aspects of content creation for the website, our members, and the professional services community.
While relevant experience is expected, we are looking first and foremost to hire a Manager of Research and Content Development with a great attitude, exceptional drive, and enthusiasm.
THE MANAGER, RESEARCH AND PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT POSITION
The ideal candidate will have 2+ years experience in business, marketing, or sales with strong writing and editorial skills and the enthusiasm to embrace the challenges of a fast-paced work environment with an aggressive growth path. Responsibilities include:
- Managing all content development to achieve growth and profitability targets
- Developing and managing relationships with key partners, freelance writers, and editors to develop content
- Determining the types and topics of content to be developed
- Establishing and managing ongoing research and product development initiatives on topics of marketing and selling for professional services
- Ensuring that all content meets a high quality standard
- Managing projects on time and on budget
- Performing and/or commissioning research reports
- Directing all content production
- Mentoring and coaching freelance writers, interns, editors, and other staff responsible for content creation
- Developing RainToday’s voice across all products and content
TYPICAL ASSIGNMENTS
Projects will include managing the production of:
- How-to guides and tools: Tools and workbooks on specific marketing and sales topics to be sold in the RainToday store
- Premium members-only content: Premium content to serve as a membership benefit. These could include:
- Case studies with professional services firms around specific campaigns they ran that worked and results
- Interviews with marketing and sales experts to be distributed in written format and as podcasts
- In-depth feature articles, position pieces, and white papers
- Strategic analysis of research and trends
- Facilitation of teleseminars and other online events
- Research reports: Work with our research team to write and develop proprietary research on the topics of marketing and sales for professional services firms
REQUIREMENTS
We are looking to hire a Manager of Research and Content Development with the following experience, background, and abilities:
- Experience with, and practical knowledge of, sales and marketing processes
- 2+ years experience writing, editing, or working in a marketing, sales, or online publishing environment
- Exceptional writing and editorial skills for a variety of online communications and products
- Proficiency with Word and Excel
- Exceptional attention to detail, passion, and willingness to work hard
- High energy and self-motivation
- Ability to find, manage, and motivate writers and content creators
- Ability to manage and track multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience in online publishing is preferred
- BA in Business, Marketing, or Communications with strong writing skills

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Compensation is a competitive salary plus a bonus based on individual and company performance. We offer health insurance through Tufts Health Plan, 401k and profit share plan, and a generous mix of all-purpose vacation, sick, and personal days. Travel is infrequent.
