Interview with Ruth P. Stevens: Trade Show Marketing for Professional Services

RainToday.com interviewed consultant, marketer, professor, and author Ruth P. Stevens. Her recently released book, Trade Show And Event Marketing, is a soup-to-nuts look at planning and executing effective trade show strategy.

We were curious... where do professional services firms fit into the Trade Show circuit? Here's what she shared with us.

Professional services firms don't have the luxury of exhibiting something you can touch, see, or experience in a booth setting. Many services firms have never even attended trade shows, believing they're “just not right” for them. What would you tell them if they said to you, “We've never been. Why should we go?”

If I were a marketer at a law firm or an accounting firm, I would ask myself the same question! At so many trade shows, the guys with physical products to show are the ones who seem to be having the most fun at their booth. There's the neatest stuff, with moving parts – it's wonderful!

That said, remember why trade shows are so effective.
