| What You Will Learn | In this 3 day yellow belt certification course designed specifically for the legal profession, you will learn practical methodologies, tools, and skills in the leading-edge area of Process Improvement as applied to law firms and legal departments. The program will prepare you to lead a process improvement project by grounding you in the key methodologies of Lean, Six Sigma, and Theory of Constraints as applied in the legal profession. Attend our October yellow belt courses to learn how to choose, lead and implement a project. Unlike other seminars, with LSSO's programs, you will not need to "bridge" from other industries. You will learn the major concepts and principles in context and we will explore all phases of process improvement. Determine what process could (or needs to be) improved, such as: - Time keeping
- Billing
- Practice management
- Budgeting
- HR processes, such as orientation lateral integration
- Marketing and business development activities such as responses to RFP's, event planning & client team management
- The firm visitor experience
- Office and facilities management, such as filing and file retrieval
- Technology, CI, and KM - new systems/software
Establish why that particular process is a good selection for an improvement project: For example, law firms already know that if: time is captured well, descriptions of the services performed are well crafted and within client guideline, bills are developed on a timely basis, and the firm is judicious about write offs/downs, then realization rates improve. This, in turn, directly affects firm profitability. As such, the billing process is an excellent (if not critical) process for consideration because even small improvements can produce significant results. Lead and manage a process improvement project successfully "Make your case" for the project Measure the results For Yellow Belt participants who wish to pursue the next level of skills development, we offer Green Belt Certification based on successful completion of a process improvement project, supported with project coaching and final project evaluation. White Belt certification is not a prerequisite to the Yellow Belt Course. |
