When you are first introduced to someone new, you only have a matter of seconds to set the hook and get your message across about how they can benefit from a relationship with you. This may sound unfair, but the people you most want to meet are probably the busiest and may have little time to hear you pitch your services or talk about how good you are.
To be successful with networking you need to create a reason for someone to want to get to know you and be in touch with you. This type of communication is the foundation of a strong relationship and successful networking. By cultivating the ability to actively listen and engage in conversation, you lay your network's foundation block-by-block.
