Jumping to conclusions can be disastrous. If there's a small house fire, for instance, your first instinct might be to douse it with water. In more than a few cases, though, spraying water causes a fire to spread, resulting in even more damage.

In the world of professional services, you don't have to look far to find a consultant who jumps to conclusions about a client's issue and who immediately offers a solution, with negative results for the consultant and the client.
