A ton of advice is available on every conceivable aspect of selling products and services, and some of it is very good. Some experts offer specific formulas for pursuing sales opportunities. Others suggest that we dump all sales techniques.
Most advice on selling contains more than a grain of truth; none of it is completely right or wrong. It really depends on what works for you and the client. We all have different selling styles, and each client situation presents its own challenges. Sometimes, a sale falls into your lap. Other times, it seems to take forever to get any response from the client.
Whatever advice you choose to follow (or ignore), the one skill you shouldn't leave home without is the ability to close the sale.
