Networking Made Easy: Step-by-Step Advice for How to Win Clients and Referral Sources

Too Busy? Try the No-Time Networking Plan

Joe is a smart, technically proficient guy. He is also a really nice guy. Joe wants to increase his business development results, but he has been unable to do so no matter how much he networks.

Joe's neighbors and friends are successful, he plays tennis with top executives and business owners, and his children go to school with children of these successful folks. He has never been hired by any of these acquaintances, and rarely has he received referrals from them.

Joe says he is "uncomfortable" talking about business with these people, as he's concerned they will think he is selling them. Joe decided to join a networking group that meets once a week at 7 a.m. What has been the outcome of his efforts? Who has he been meeting? Start-up businesses and small business owners, very few of whom can afford his services.
