After founder Bob King, Esq. and his wife had their first child, King was determined to hire his nanny legally, including paying the required employment taxes. After all, he was an employment attorney, working as in-house counsel at the time. However, he quickly grew frustrated that no one could help him figure out exactly what he needed to do to comply with all the legal and tax requirements.
That was when King decided to found Legally Nanny®. He worked nights and weekends on his startup venture while still holding down his day job, creating a firm that specializes in the legal and tax issues of in-home employers. That was in 2003. In 2008, he gave up his full-time employment to run the firm full-time. Legally Nanny is now a "go-to" firm in California for household employee issues.
